Delicious Sun Kava Tea

This is a most wonderful way to prepare your 'awa with very little waste. I tried a number of the recipes here and then worked this one out:

Ingredients:

- 1 quart canning jar
- 3 to 3 & 1/2 cups purified water or spring water
(Leave room at the top of the jar for the frothy head.)
- Ginger to taste (I use about 1 teaspoon, but I LOVE ginger.)
- 3 tsp. lecithin
- 3-4 heaping tablespoons powdered kava root

1. Mix your ingredients together and shake well.
2. Place in a warm, sunny spot and shake the jar periodically.
3. Leave it in the sun for several hours. (A friend of mine leaves it in the sun all day. The 'awa develops a beautiful frothy white head.)
4. When I think it's done, I bring it in, strain it through cheesecloth and it's ready to drink...warmed by the sun and delicious.
5. Keep any unused 'awa in the refrigerator.

'Awa also helps me sleep at night, so I keep some in the refrigerator.  I usually warm it a bit before I drink it.

Since we live in the north country and sometimes go long periods of time without sunshine in the winter, I'm going to try putting the jar in a pan of warm water this winter...using the same process of shaking the jar periodically.

Thank you for growing and offering your lovely, peaceful awa.

Blessings to you,
Dianna
